Daily Opener a Day October 2026

DAILY OPENER October 2026

A banned book a day, five minutes at a time

Thirty-one openers for October, one for each day and one Contraband title. Every day gives you two versions of the same opener: grades 6–8 notice, predict, connect, discuss, and write; grades 9–12 analyze, interrogate, discuss, and draft a thesis.

Pick a date below, or open the flipbook and turn the page each morning. No logins, no accounts, nothing collected.

Weekends are included, so you can plan ahead or use a Monday page on a block schedule. Each page links to that title's Contraband room.

How teachers use it

  1. Project the day. Open the flipbook, press Full screen, and leave it up as students come in.
  2. Pick a lane. Show both grade bands, or filter to just yours.
  3. Five minutes. Students notice, predict, or analyze, then write one or two sentences.
  4. Go deeper when it lands. Each day links to that book's Contraband room for vocabulary, evidence work, and close reading.

Prompts are original and work whether or not students have read the book. No passages from the books are reproduced.
